About me
Hi there! My name is James (he/they).
I’m originally from Cape Town, South Africa;
then I moved to Paros, Greece;
and now I’m living in Edinburgh, Scotland.
As a child, I was encouraged to stay curious, and so far my journey has included:
A Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Linguistics from the University of Cape Town,
A Parts hypnotherapy certification from the South African Institute of Hypnotism,
A Master of Science in Music Therapy from Queen Margaret Univeristy (HCPC-registered),
and I am working on completing my Reiki Level II training at Healing Hands, Edinburgh.
However, throughout my academic and working life, music has been the thread that connects the various elements of my life, passions, interests, and goals. I grew up playing Celtic, bluegrass, country, and Greek & western folk music, and I was fortunate enough to have a curiosity to learn different instruments. I was taught by my dad to play by ear and how to improvise, and these are skills that I treasure as I continue to explore my music in different settings.
